Daytime Activities
Viking Cooking Classes — This group meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday at the Viking Cooking School in Memphis to learn a variety of cooking skills, menu planning and holiday meal preparations. Each month is a different class with a different menu. Space is limited, but additional sign-ups are welcome.
Mahjong - Chinese Way — Mahjong is a game played with Chinese tiles - similar to Rummy. Group meets in members’ homes on Mondays from 9:30 to 2:30 to play mahjong. We play the Chinese way and are always willing to teach newcomers - so come join us. Hostess provides snacks and players bring a sandwich.
Daytime Party Bridge — This group meets on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Monday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at a member’s home, on a rotating basis. The hostess provides beverages and snacks; and a light lunch is provided on a voluntary basis. Chicago party bridge scoring rules are followed. There are players of all levels of experience in this group and new players are always welcome.
Tuesday Daytime Book Club — This group meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10 AM. We meet in our members’ homes on a rotating basis, throughout the year. These ladies love to read and discuss books. We have an hour or so of lively discussion on the chosen book, then we go out for lunch somewhere nearby. Books are chosen from suggestions made by group members–a variety of current fiction, non-fiction, and classics.
Stitchery - We meet monthly to stitch and converse with friends about anything and everything. All kinds of stitching are done. Members bring a sandwich if they plan on spending the day.
Bowling —We bowl the first Tuesday of every month and then on Thursdays for each week thereafter from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Cordova Bowling Center, 7945 Club Center Cove. Come and join us. We are not a league, just women socializing and having fun.
Mexican Train Dominoes — We meet once a month at a member’s home to play a very easy-to-learn domino game. New members are always welcome.
Luncheons — Monthly lunches are held at various restaurants and country clubs around the area on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. All members are invited to attend.
Adventures in Daytime Dining - This groups investigates and dines at area restaurants for lunch on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. A great time to socialize and enjoy great food at various places. The groups decides where to go to eat.
Adventures in Ethnic Dining - If you enjoy ethnic food - this is the group for you. This group meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month at various ethnic restaurants around the greater Memphis area. Come and experiment with us.
Investment Club - We meet once a month and learn about and invest in the stock market. The group is restricted by by-laws to 15 active members. We have openings from time to time.
Garden Group - Want to learn more about gardening, plants, and decorating? Then come join us as we learn together at various places around town.
DayTrippers - Our group meets once a month to explore various sights and points of interest in the greater Memphis area. We usually spend an hour or so on site. Then, for those who wish, we enjoy lunch and conversation at a restaurant nearby. This is a GREAT way to learn about Memphis!
Antiquing - Like to check out the antique stores in the area? Come join us as we visit local antique stores as well as antique stores in nearby cities. We also enjoy lunch together while we browse.
Coffees - This is an opportunity to get acquainted with some of our members and learn more about what New Neighbors has to offer you.
Breakfast Club - Like to eat breakfast out? Come join us at Perkins in Collierville at 9 AM on the first Friday of every month for breakfast, before you run your errands for the day. A very relaxed way to socialize, make new friends, and ease into the weekend.
Coffee “N” Chat -- This group meets at Starbucks at Forest Hill Irene and Poplar. We usually meet at 9:30 AM on the 2nd Friday of the month. Stop by for a quick cup of coffee, or enjoy a leisurely morning visiting with friends.
Chicks @ the Flicks — We meet once a month for lunch and a movie. We usually meet at 11 AM on the 3rd Friday of the month at a restaurant in Collierville and then go to a movie at the Collierville Towne Cinema. New members are always welcome.
Memory Keepers — We meet once a month at Archivers store in Memphis, usually on the 4th Friday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Our members range from beginners to advanced crafters. New members are always welcome.
Doubles Tennis League —This group meets on Monday mornings in the fall and spring of the year. It has a set schedule that is followed. You may join this group with or without a partner. Standings are kept.
Singles Tennis League —This group has a set schedule. Players meet once a week in the fall and spring of the year. Your match time and location are determined by agreement between you and your opponent. Your match should be played within one calendar week. Standings are kept.
